Whole-Home Rewiring in Dalworthington Gardens
We replace worn, outdated wiring in your home with new circuits, grounded outlets and fresh connections. Before we start, you get a realistic schedule showing which rooms lose power on which days and when we arrive each morning. If anything shifts, we call you.

When a full rewire makes sense
A rewire takes your home's old branch circuits out of service and replaces them with new cable to every light, switch and outlet. It's more work than a repair, so we suggest it only when the wiring itself has failed. Cloth-wrapped cable that flakes apart, ungrounded circuits all over the house, aluminum branch wiring or a long history of tacked-on splices are the usual signs.
Other times the trouble is limited to one circuit or a few worn terminals. Then electrical repair is the cheaper fix, and we'll tell you that directly. But when the whole system is worn out, fixing it one room at a time usually adds up to more money over the years.
You can usually stay in your home during a rewire. We arrange the work so the kitchen and a bathroom work at the end of every day, and before we begin we tell you how many working days to expect.
What a rewire with us covers
New branch circuits
We run new copper cable from the panel to each outlet, switch and fixture, sized for what that circuit feeds. Old cable is disconnected and removed where we can reach it.
Grounded outlets and new devices
Every receptacle becomes a grounded three-prong outlet. We add GFCI protection in kitchens, baths, garages and outdoor spots, and AFCI protection where code calls for it.
Smoke and CO alarms
If code calls for it, we connect smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to house power and link them together. Trip one and the rest go off with it.
Panel check and tie-in
We look at whether your panel can take the new circuits. If it can't, we explain why and price a panel upgrade as its own line so you see both numbers.
Permit and inspections
We pull the permit and schedule rough-in and final inspections as required by the local jurisdiction. Walls stay open until the rough-in passes.
Small openings, clean rooms
We fish wire through the attic and crawl space to keep wall openings small and few. You see where every opening goes before we cut, and we clean up at the end of each day.

Signs your home may need rewiring
- Warm or stained outlet covers
- A cover plate that feels warm or has brown marks means heat at the connection. One is a repair. Several around the house point to the wiring.
- Two-prong outlets everywhere
- Ungrounded outlets give surge protectors and electronics no ground path. Adapters hide the problem but don't fix it.
- Flickering that moves around
- Lights that dim in different rooms, not just one fixture, can mean loose or failing connections spread through the system.
- Brittle or cloth-covered cable
- Cracked or fabric insulation in the attic is past its life. North Texas attics get very hot in summer, and that heat speeds the breakdown.
- Aluminum branch wiring
- Aluminum branch circuits loosen at the terminals over time and can overheat. On a visit we can talk through a full rewire versus approved repair connectors.
How a rewiring job runs
- 1
Walkthrough and written scope
On the first visit we open a few boxes, check the attic and panel, and map your circuits. You get a written scope and price, plus an estimated number of working days.
- 2
A day-by-day schedule
Before work starts, we give you a schedule that shows which rooms are without power on which days and our arrival window each morning. If an inspection date or a hidden problem moves things, we call you that day with the new plan.
- 3
Rough-in and inspection
We run new cable and set boxes one section at a time so the rest of the house stays live. The inspector checks the rough-in before any wall is closed.
- 4
Devices, testing and final
We install outlets, switches and fixtures, label the panel, and test every circuit. After the final inspection we walk you through what changed.
What moves the price of a rewire
We can't put a number on a rewire until we've walked through your house. Your written estimate lists each part of the job separately, so nothing hides inside one big total. Here is what pushes that number up or down the most.
- House size and number of circuits
- A larger house with a longer circuit list takes more cable, more devices and more labor hours to finish.
- Access to walls and ceilings
- A roomy attic lets us fish wire with very little cutting. Finished vaulted ceilings, plaster walls or a two-story layout with no clear path take longer.
- Panel condition
- If the panel has to be replaced to carry the new circuits, that is added work, priced on its own line.
- Open walls versus finished rooms
- Rewiring during a remodel, with studs exposed, takes far less labor than working through finished drywall. If you are planning one, our remodel and addition wiring page covers that work.
- Permit and inspection steps
- Permit fees and the wait between inspections are part of the job and show up in the estimate.
Common rewiring questions
- Do we have to move out while you work?
- Most families stay put. We rewire one section at a time, so every night you still have power in the kitchen, a bathroom and at least one bedroom. If one day needs the whole house shut off, you hear about it in advance and we keep it as brief as possible.
- How long will a full rewire take?
- It depends on how big the house is and how easily we can get to the wiring. A single-story home with an open attic goes faster than a two-story with finished ceilings. After the walkthrough you get a number of working days, and we tell you if inspections or surprises shift it.
- Will you cut holes in the walls?
- Some, but not many. Going through the attic, the crawl space and openings already there keeps them small. We point out every opening before work begins, and the estimate spells out how patching is handled.
- Will I need a new panel as well?
- Only when what we find calls for one. A panel in good shape with room for the new circuits can stay. If yours is too small or worn out, we explain why and price the upgrade on its own, so you can decide on it separately from the rewire.
- Do you take care of the permit?
- Yes. We file it and schedule the rough-in and final inspections as the local jurisdiction requires. We meet the inspector both times, so you don't have to miss work to open the door.
