ServicesEV Charger Installation

EV Charger Installation in Dalworthington Gardens

We install Level 2 chargers in your garage or on an outside wall, wired on their own circuit and sized to what your panel can carry. You get a set arrival window, a realistic install day, and a heads-up from us if anything changes along the way.

Charging at home, done right the first time

A Level 2 charger pulls a steady, heavy load for hours at a time. That is a different job from plugging in a lamp. The circuit, the wire size, the breaker and the outlet or hardwired connection all have to match the charger and the car. Get one piece wrong and you end up with a tripping breaker or a warm outlet.

We start by looking at your panel and doing the load math before we quote anything. Most homes can take a charger as is. Some need a bigger breaker space, a load management device, or a panel upgrade first. We tell you which one applies to your home and why.

Then we put a date on the calendar and keep to it. If the permit, an inspection slot or a part pushes the date, you hear it from us before the day, not after.

Everything in a charger install

  1. 01

    Panel capacity review

First we read your panel's rating, count the free breaker slots and note the big loads already on it, like the AC, dryer and range. From that we know how large a charger circuit your home can safely add.

  2. 02

    Dedicated charger circuit

The charger gets its own circuit, run from the panel with wire sized for the load and the distance. Nothing else shares it.

  3. 03

    Outlet or hardwired connection

Some chargers plug into a heavy-duty 240-volt outlet. Others are wired straight in. We go with what the charger maker calls for and explain the difference.

  4. 04

    Indoor or outdoor mounting

In the garage, we mount near where you park so the cable reaches without stretching across the floor. Outside, we use weather-rated boxes and fittings and route the wire so it is protected.

  5. 05

    Permit and inspection

Filing the permit is our job, not yours. The inspection follows whatever your local jurisdiction requires, and we set that date with you so you know when someone needs access.

  6. 06

    Test and walkthrough

Before we leave, we test the circuit and run a charge session with your car if it is home. We show you the breaker and how to reset it.

Signs it is time for a proper charger

  • The wall outlet takes all night and then some

A regular 120-volt household outlet charges slowly, often too slowly to put back a full day of driving overnight. If you are short by morning, a Level 2 circuit fixes that.

  • You are running an extension cord

Extension cords are not made for hours of steady charging. They heat up at the plug and along the cord. That is a fire risk worth ending.

  • The breaker trips during charging

If charging trips a breaker, the circuit is shared or undersized. Plugging back in only repeats the problem.

  • A new EV is on the way

Installing before delivery means you charge at home on day one. It also gives us time to sort out the permit without rushing you.

  • The outlet or plug feels warm

Heat at the outlet usually means a loose connection or a worn receptacle. Stop using it and have it checked.

How your charger install day runs

  1. 1

    Service visit and load check

We come out in the arrival window we gave you, look at the panel and where you park, and measure the wire run. You get a written scope and price before any work is scheduled.

  2. 2

    Permit and a firm date

We file the permit and give you an install date. If the panel needs work first, we tell you that now and plan both jobs in order.

  3. 3

    Install day

Most installs take part of one day. Power to the house goes off only for the short time we connect at the panel, and we tell you before it does. We clean up drill dust and wire scraps as we go.

  4. 4

    Inspection and wrap-up

We test the charger and walk you through it. Then we line up the inspection and let you know the date and time window as soon as we have it.

What sets the cost of a charger install

Charger installs never cost quite the same from one home to the next. Your panel and the distance from it to the charger make the biggest difference. After the service visit you get a written price, so you see the number before the work is booked.

Room in your panel
When there's space in the panel and the load math checks out, it's a straightforward job. When the panel is full or close to its limit, a load management device or a panel upgrade may have to come first.
How far the wire runs
A panel right behind the garage wall makes for a short run. A detached garage or a parking pad near the driveway means more wire and more labor, and the outside section may need conduit or a trench.
Charger amps
Chargers with higher amperage need thicker wire and a larger breaker. We help you pick a charger that fits your car and how much you drive each day, so you aren't paying for capacity you won't use.
Outlet or wired in
A plug-in setup and a hardwired one call for different parts and labor. Chargers mounted outside also need fittings rated for weather.
Permit and inspection costs
The local jurisdiction sets the permit fees and inspection rules. Both are part of the written price we give you.

EV charger questions we hear

Will the charger go in my garage, or does it have to be outside?

Most of the chargers we put in end up inside the garage, and that is usually the easiest spot. We mount it close to where you park and run a dedicated circuit from the panel. A detached garage or an outside wall works too, it just means a longer wire run and weather-rated parts.

Do I need a panel upgrade for an EV charger?

Not always. We do the load math on your panel first. Many homes have the room. If yours does not, we explain the options, including a load management device or a full panel upgrade, and what each one means for the schedule.

Should I buy the charger, or do you supply it?

Either works. If you already have one, we install it to the maker's instructions. If you have not bought one yet, we can talk through amperage and plug-in versus hardwired before you spend the money.

How long does the whole thing take from first call to charging?

The install itself is usually part of one day. The rest depends on the permit and inspection timing. We give you a realistic date at the service visit and keep you posted if it moves.

Will the charger hold up in a hot Texas garage?

Garages here get very hot in summer, so we check the charger's temperature rating and keep it out of direct sun on outdoor walls. Proper wire size and tight connections also keep heat down at the terminals.

Charge at home on a date you can plan for

Tell us what car you drive and where you park. We will set a service visit, check your panel and give you an install date you can count on.
