Panel Upgrades in Dalworthington Gardens
We replace old, full or undersized electrical panels in your home. You get a set work day, an arrival window you can plan around and a heads-up if anything shifts. Most of the waiting happens on paper, not with your power off.

When It Makes Sense to Replace a Panel
Every circuit in your home runs back to one gray box on the wall. If that box is out of room, runs warm or holds breakers that have worn out, the trouble spreads. You see it as tripped breakers, flickering lights and outlets you can't add. Swapping the panel deals with all of it in one place.
Not every panel needs replacing. Now and then the whole trouble comes down to a single worn breaker or a lug that has worked loose over the years. If a small fix is all you need, that's what we'll recommend. If the panel itself is the problem, we lay out what size makes sense for what you run now and what you plan to add, like an EV charger or a battery backup.
The part people worry about is the day the power goes off. We plan that day with you ahead of time, so you know when we'll arrive, roughly when the power comes back and who to expect at the door.
What a Panel Upgrade Includes
- Load check before we size anything
- We look at what your home actually draws, including the air conditioner, range, dryer and water heater. That tells us if you need a bigger panel or just a newer one with more room.
- Permit and inspection
- We pull the permit and set up the inspection as required by the local jurisdiction. You don't have to call anyone.
- Utility coordination
- If the meter has to be pulled or the service changed, we coordinate with the utility. We tell you the date as soon as it's set.
- New panel, breakers and labels
- We move each circuit to the new panel, torque the connections and label every breaker in plain words. No more guessing which one runs the kitchen.
- Grounding and bonding brought up to date
- Older setups often have weak grounding. We correct it as part of the job so the new panel works the way it should.
- Cleanup and a walk-through
- We patch around the panel where needed, haul off the old equipment and test circuits with you before we leave.
Signs Your Panel Needs Attention
Breakers trip under normal use
If running the microwave and the toaster together trips a breaker, the circuit or panel may be overloaded. It's worth a look before it gets worse.
No open spaces left
A full panel means new circuits get squeezed in with tandem breakers or not added at all. That's often the first sign you've outgrown it.
Warm cover, buzzing or a burnt smell
Heat or a hum coming from the panel usually means a connection is breaking down. Go easy on heavy loads like the dryer and oven, and have it checked in the next few days rather than waiting.
Lights dim when the AC kicks on
A short flicker can be normal. Lights that dim hard every time the compressor starts on a hot Texas afternoon suggest the panel or service is straining.
An older panel with a recall history
Some older panel brands have breakers known to fail to trip. If yours is one, we'll tell you plainly and show you why.
Your Panel Job, Step by Step
- 1
First, a close look at the panel
We take the cover off and inspect each breaker, the wire ends and the grounding. We also ask what you might add down the road. You get the scope and price in writing before we schedule anything.
- 2
Paperwork in, day on the calendar
When you give the go-ahead, we apply for the permit and set up any utility work. We give you a work day and an arrival window, and we phone you if either one moves.
- 3
The day of the swap
We arrive within the window we promised and lay down covers on the floor and wall by the panel. Then the power is shut off, the old panel is removed and the new one is mounted. On most swaps, plan for the power to be out for much of one day.
- 4
Power restored, work inspected
Circuits come back on one at a time, and we test each one. The inspector approves the work on the date the jurisdiction sets, and we're there for it if needed.

What Moves the Price of a Panel Upgrade
Two panel jobs on the same street can price very differently. It depends on what's behind the cover and what the house needs going forward. Each item gets its own line on the written estimate, so nothing is lumped together and you can ask about any piece of it.
- Panel size and amperage
- Swapping like for like costs less than moving up to a larger service. A larger service can also mean new service wires and a new meter base.
- Condition of the existing wiring
- Brittle insulation, aluminum branch circuits or short wires that won't reach the new panel add labor and parts.
- Where the panel sits
- A panel mounted on an exterior wall with clear space around it goes faster. One set inside a finished closet or garage wall takes more time, since the drywall has to be cut open and patched afterward.
- Grounding and code updates
- Bringing grounding, bonding or required protection up to current code adds to the job. We show you which items are required and which are optional.
- Add-ons done the same day
- Adding whole-home surge protection or prep for a generator or EV charger while the power is already off usually saves a second visit.
Panel Upgrade Questions
Something not covered here? (682) 327-5868
How long will my power be off?
For most panel swaps, power is off for a good part of one day. A full service upgrade with utility work can run longer. We give you a realistic window when we schedule, and we update you during the day if something we find changes it.
Who takes care of the permit and inspection?
We do. We apply for it ourselves and book the inspection the way the local jurisdiction requires. The moment the inspection date is set, we pass it along to you.
Do I need to be home?
Someone should be there at the start so we can walk through the job, and at the end so we can test circuits with you. In between, many people step out for the day since the power is off anyway.
Will adding an EV charger mean a new panel?
It depends on what your home already draws. We run a load check first, and plenty of panels have enough room left for a charger circuit. When the numbers are tight, an upgrade is the safer route. If you're planning EV charger installation, bring it up when you book so we size everything with the charger in mind.
What happens to my fridge and freezer?
Keep the doors closed and most food holds fine through a work day. If you have medical equipment or a home office that needs power, tell us when we schedule and we'll plan the day around it.
Can you add a generator connection at the same time?
Yes. If you're thinking about generator installation or a home battery backup system, doing the panel work at the same time keeps it to one power shutoff. We'll walk through the options during the service visit.
Pick a Day That Works for You
Tell us about your panel and what you plan to add. We'll set a service visit with a clear arrival window and keep you posted if anything changes.
