What Electrical Repair Covers

Electrical repair is the everyday stuff that stops working: a dead outlet, a breaker that keeps tripping, a switch that feels warm, a light that buzzes. Most of it comes down to a loose connection, a worn-out device or a circuit carrying more than it was built for. We figure out which one it is, fix it and test it before we leave.

The part people tell us they care about most is knowing when we'll show up. You get an arrival window when you book. If an earlier job runs long, we let you know before your window, not after it. If your repair needs a part we don't have on the truck, we tell you right then and set the return trip before we pack up.

Some repairs point to a bigger problem. If what we find calls for a panel upgrade or whole-home rewiring, we explain why in plain words and leave the choice with you.

What We Handle on a Repair Visit

  1. 01

    Dead outlets and circuits

We trace the circuit from the panel to the dead spot. Often it's a tripped GFCI in another room, a failed breaker or a loose wire at a back-stabbed outlet. We find the actual break, not just the closest one.

  2. 02

    Breakers that keep tripping

A breaker trips for a reason: too much load, a short or a ground fault. We test which it is. In a North Texas summer, an air conditioner sharing a circuit with other loads is a common culprit, and we'll tell you if a dedicated circuit makes more sense.

  3. 03

Worn or damaged outlets and switches

Loose, scorched or cracked devices get replaced. Where code calls for GFCI protection, like kitchens, bathrooms, garages and outdoor outlets, we install it.

  4. 04

    Flickering and dimming lights

We check fixtures, dimmers and the connections behind them. A loose neutral can cause flicker across several rooms, and we look for it.

  5. 05

    Outdoor and garage circuits

Exterior outlets, weatherproof covers and garage circuits take a beating from heat and rain. We repair or replace what's failed and seal it properly.

  6. 06

    Testing before we go

Every repaired circuit gets tested under load. We show you what we fixed and what we checked.

Signs You Need an Electrician

  • Warm or discolored outlet

Heat or a brown mark on a cover plate means a connection is breaking down. Stop using it and unplug what's on it.

  • A breaker that trips again

If it trips soon after you reset it, something on that circuit is wrong. Resetting it over and over doesn't fix it.

  • Burning smell or buzzing

A faint plastic smell or a buzz from a switch or panel is worth a visit soon.

  • Lights dim when something kicks on

A brief dip when the AC or a microwave starts can be normal. A deep or lasting dim usually is not.

  • Outlets that quit for no clear reason

No tripped breaker, no tripped GFCI, and still no power. That's a loose or failed connection somewhere in the run.

  • Small shocks or tingles

Feeling a tingle from a switch, appliance or faucet points to a grounding problem. Book a visit and stay off it until then.

How a Repair Visit Goes

  1. 1

You book, we give a window

Tell us what's happening when you call. We book a service visit and give you an arrival window. If our day shifts, we call you before your window starts.

  2. 2

    We find the cause

We test the circuit, open the boxes that need opening and check the panel. Then we tell you what's wrong and what the repair costs before we do any of it.

  3. 3

    We make the repair

Most repairs get finished on the first visit. If a part has to be ordered, we make the area safe, tell you how long it should take and book the return trip on the spot.

  4. 4

    Test, clean up, walk through

We test everything we touched, clean up and show you the work. If we spotted something else worth watching, we mention it without pushing.

What Moves the Cost of a Repair

Repair prices depend on what we find once the cover plate comes off. That's why we diagnose first and give you the price before any work starts. You won't get a bill for work you didn't agree to.

Finding the problem
A failed outlet in plain sight is quick. A loose connection hidden somewhere along a long run takes longer to track down.
Access
Wiring behind finished walls, in a hot attic or above a vaulted ceiling takes more time to reach than an open garage wall.
Parts
A standard outlet costs less than a GFCI, AFCI breaker or specialty dimmer. Some older panels need breakers that are harder to find.
Code updates
Replacing a device sometimes means bringing it up to current code, such as adding GFCI protection. We tell you up front when that applies.
Permits
Most small repairs don't need one. When the work does, we pull it as required by the local jurisdiction and schedule the inspection.

Electrical Repair Questions

My breaker keeps shutting off. What's causing it?

A breaker cuts power to protect the wire behind it, so something is making it do its job. Often the circuit is simply asked to carry too much, like a space heater and a hair dryer running on the same line. It can also be a short inside an outlet or appliance, a ground fault near water, or an old breaker that has gotten weak and lets go too soon. We test the circuit, tell you which it is and give you the fix before we start.

How long does a typical repair take?

Most single repairs, like a dead outlet or a bad switch, take an hour or two once we're there. Tracking down an intermittent problem can take longer. We give you a rough time once we see what's going on, and we update you if it changes.

What if you can't finish on the first visit?

We leave everything safe, explain what's still needed and book the return trip before we leave. You'll know the date and the arrival window, so you're not waiting around for a call.

Is it safe to keep using a warm outlet?

No. Unplug everything from it and stop using it until it's checked. Heat means a connection is failing, and it tends to get worse, not better.

What happens if you're running late?

We call you. If an earlier job runs over, you'll hear from us before your window starts, with a new time or the option to rebook.

Do you serve areas outside Dalworthington Gardens?

Yes. Our repair visits reach Arlington, Kennedale, Mansfield, Grand Prairie and the towns around them. Give us your address on the phone, and you'll get an arrival window the same way a customer down the street would.
